Pinch Pots
Though creating a pinch pot is typically very difficult Charlie Deer managed to transform a ball of clay into a masterpiece. He took the soft ball of clay and inserted his thumb into the center of the ball while rotating and gently pushing out, from the inside of the ball. After a few minutes of evening out all of the sides of the ball, the pot was just about complete. He then added intricate designs and patterns to jaw drop his audience.
This organic pinch pot was created using delicate forming. Charlie Deer started by making a soft ball of clay and inserting his thumbs to the center of the ball and slowly rotated the ball counter clockwise while gently pushing in the inside walls, out. After a few minutes and careful consideration in regards to the eveness of the pot, Charlie Deer knew it was time to start designing. He poked holes in the pot to mimic the cactus needles in way that was both creative and beautiful at the same time.
Inspiration
The inspiration of this pot came from a ball cactus that is
typically found in Desert climate. After learning about
cactuses in AP enviromental science he was inspired to
create a pinch pot which incorporated the cactus.
